Acacia trees are iconic features in the East African grasslands. They provide shade from the scorching sun for animals and the branches provide strong supports for nest building, with thorns to deter predators. Giraffes stretch their necks to nibble from the high canopy and elephants frequently pull branches down in order to feed on the leaves. I chose to juxtapose this image by inverting the colour and using the giraffe in the background to increase the stature of this magnificent, old acacia.
Medium/Process: Archival Pigment-based inks, 12 Colour Giclee system, Canvas, Frame : Floating Black
Dimensions: 60” x 40” (152.4cm x 101.6cm)
Edition: 1 of 5 Canvas, 1 of 20 Archival Framed
