Compass jellyfish are seasonal visitors to Britain’s coast, especially the west coast of Cornwall and Wales in England. They have a nasty, painful sting and although unappreciated by swimmers and surfers, these marine creatures are extremely beautiful when viewed close-up. The translucent yellow-white bell has brown V-shaped lines radiating from the centre of the top which resemble a compass. Numerous long, thin tentacles, as well as four frilly oral arms, trail beneath the bell while the jellyfish drifts passively with the ocean currents and tides.
Medium/Process: Giclee, Paper: Canson Baryta, Archival mounting, Substrate: Dibond, Subframe
Dimensions: 23.6” x 15.7” (60cm x 40cm)
Edition: 1 of 25
