Nicole Forrester, Callington, UK, 2024
This handsome highland cow is a descendant of the ancient and iconic Scottish cattle breed. On this windy day, it stood stolidly, defying the weather and watched with interest as I took photos. They have long, sweeping horns and shaggy double coats for protection against the cold weather. The thick fringe hanging over the eyes protects them from wind, rain and insects. Highland cows are red, black or tan, but after Queen Victoria publicly stated that the reds were her favourite, effort was made to breed more red highlanders.
Medium/Process: Giclee, Paper: Hahnemühle Bamboo, Archival mounting, Substrate: Dibond, Subframe
Dimensions: 30” x 20” (76.2cm x 50.8cm)
Edition: 1 of 50
