Nicole Forrester, Edinburgh, 2021
Gone are the days when St James Quarter was home to writers, poets and printing presses. It is now an enormous, modern shopping galleria where people can dine, shop and stay, located close to Waverly Station for accessibility. However, the nearby landmark of the Balmoral Hotel, with its iconic clock tower dating back to the Victorian era, still stands tall overlooking Edinburgh city. The clock is set 3 minutes ahead of UK time, which is a tradition since 1902, in order to trick passengers to hurry and not miss their train. This image was photographed at 17:54 according to my camera information. The second clock, which has the incorrect time, was part of the historical railway property.
Medium/Process: Giclee, Paper: Canson Baryta, Frame: Black - Wide, Glass: Museum, Mount: Bright White
Dimensions: 27.6” x 18.4” (70cm x 46.7cm)
Edition: 1 of 25 Framed
